Spring games are so much fun because they help show football fans across the country glimpses of the future. For Texas A&M Aggie fans, on Saturday they got a small glimpse into the remarkably bright future of their five-star freshman wide receiver, Evan Stewart. He was rated as a five-star plus prospect, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2022 recruiting class.

Stewart was only one of five prospects in the 2022 cycle to earn a lofty five-star plus ranking from On3 and on Saturday in the Texas A&M spring game, he showed why. Check out the impressive catch he made.

He finished the day with an impressive eight catches for 78 yards, including a 31-yard connection with quarterback Haynes King in the third quarter. If Stewart’s spring game performance is any indication, he’ll certainly have a role in the offense this season.

Following a recent spring practice, Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher had words of high praise for the uber-talented freshman.

Jimbo Fisher on Evan Stewart

“First of all, tremendous human being,” the Texas A&M head coach said. “(He’s got a) tremendous attitude, a great work ethic, a desire to be great, an urgency to be great and has excellent athleticism. He’s a very intelligent human being. He works. He gets coached. He plays hard. He makes mistakes just like any freshman. He’ll do it. But (he says), ‘Yessir,’ moves on, takes his coaching and goes to the next play. Great with the ball in his hands. Can get the deep ball, can do all the things you’ve got to do. But what got me the most was his ability to be coached and have a high character and have an urgency to be great quickly and push. But also be a huge team guy. He’s been a very good team guy.”

A native of Frisco, Texas, Stewart was the No. 1 receiver and No. 5 overall player in the 2022 class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. His NIL valuation of $775,000 ranks second among all high school prospects and No. 1 in the class of 2022. He held offers from nearly every big name school imaginable, including AlabamaNotre DameTexas and others.

Texas A&M is set to open up the 2022 season on Sept. 3 against Sam Houston State.
