League City (Texas) four-star offensive lineman Blake Ivy came down a trio of SEC football powers in his recruitment, but the in-state Texas A&M Aggies won out Sunday, landing Ivy over LSU and Texas.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder is the No. 117 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 4 interior offensive lineman and the No. 22 recruit in the Lone Star State.

Ivy made June official visits to all three finalists. He began the process at Texas A&M June 9-11. He then went to Texas June 16-18 before finishing the month at LSU June 23-25.

Ultimately though, it was the Aggies — for much of his recruitment considered the favorite — who won Ivy and his family over.

“They were talking about how they are going to be a different team,” he told InsideTexas last month about Texas A&M’s pitch on his official visit. “How they are rebuilding, and regrowing as a team. It was good to see that they are rebuilding, and that was good to see. I like that a lot.”

Ivy also has a strong connection to A&M offensive line coach Steve Addazio, who helped lead the way in the Aggies’ pursuit.

“I love Coach (Steve) Addazio,” he said. “It’s always good to talk to him. He’s always checking up on my family, and saying good things. He’s always asking me about how I’m doing before he asks me anything about committing.”

Ivy adds another big piece to Aggies top-10 class

Coming into the day, the Aggies sat at No. 7 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. But after Ivy’s commitment, A&M leaps over LSU into the No. 6 spot, which is also good for fourth in the SEC.

Ivy is Jimbo Fisher and Co.’s seventh top-150 commit this cycle and their 14th blue-chipper in total as they push to finish with another top-five recruiting class.

He also adds another piece to an excellent offensive line class for Addazio, joining four-star tackle Weston Davis, a top-20 overall prospect by On3, as well as four-star interior maulers Isendre Ahfua, Coen Echols, and Ashton Funk.
