LOOK: Texas A&M announces unique plans for Maroon & White halftime with star-studded lineup
As Texas A&M gets ready to celebrate its 120th season, the Aggies are getting creative for their spring game. A star-studded lineup of legends is returning for the annual Maroon & White game later this month.
All told, 33 former Texas A&M stars will be back in College Station with Tank Marshall coming back as an honorary coach for the 2022 Aggie Legends Flag Football Game, the program announced Thursday. Johnny Manziel will serve as the all-time quarterback and throw for both teams, while Mike Evans and Cullen Gillaspia will be the head coaches for the maroon and white teams, respectively.
The matchup will take place at halftime of the Maroon & White Game, which is coming up Saturday at 1 p.m. CT. Here’s the full lineup for the game.

Manziel is coming back as the all-time quarterback after a standout career for the Aggies from 2012-13. He won the Heisman Trophy as a freshman in 2012 and was a two-time All-SEC nominee during his career in College Station. The Cleveland Browns drafted him as the No. 22 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, but he only played two years in the league. He then played a year in the CFL before jumping to the now-defunct AAF with the Memphis Express. Currently, Manziel is getting ready to play in the Fan Controlled Football League.

Evans and Gillaspia are both still in the NFL — Evans plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while Gillaspia played for the New York Giants in 2021. Evans was one of Manziel’s top targets during his career, connecting for 2,499 yards and 17 touchdowns during their two years together. He went to the Buccaneers as the No. 7 overall pick in the 2014 draft, and he’s become one of Tom Brady’s go-to targets. The two developed quite a connection as they helped lead Tampa Bay to a Super Bowl LV title in 2021.
Gillaspia played linebacker at Texas A&M from 2015 to 2018 and had 25 total tackles during his time with the Aggies. The Houston Texans drafted him in the seventh round of the 2019 draft and he played two seasons there before heading to New York in 2021.
