Texas A&M guard Andre Mills enters NCAA Transfer Portal

Texas A&M guard Andre Mills has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. He only spent one season with the Aggies.

Mills didn’t see any action for Texas A&M this season. The Aggies’ backcourt was loaded with stars Wade Taylor IV and Zhuric Phelps, and Mills took a backseat, preserving a season of eligibility.

Mills played high school basketball at Brimmer and May School (VT), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 119 overall player and No. 26 shooting guard in the 2024 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

In his senior year, Mills averaged over 30.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game. For his efforts, he earned Player of the Year honors from the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council.

Mills is the fifth Texas A&M player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. The Aggies are experiencing a mass exodus as a result of head coach Buzz Williams‘ decision to leave the program and take over at Maryland.

Williams spent six seasons at the helm of the Aggies. During that time, he amassed a 120-73 overall record, a 56-44 mark in conference play and three NCAA Tournament appearances. The Aggies reached the Round of 32 this season before falling to Michigan.

Now, Williams will look for a fresh start with the Terrapins. On Thursday, he released a message to the Texas A&M fanbase.

“Words cannot describe how thankful I am for the past six years,” Williams wrote. “Every relationship, every contribution, every Buzz’s Bunch Camp, all the historic things we accomplished together, and most importantly, that you welcomed myself and my family with open arms. From the moment we returned to Texas, the impact on our hearts was evident and profound.”

“… To the 12th Man, your passion, loyalty and belief fueled us in ways that went far beyond the court,” Williams wrote. “You always showed up, stood tall, and made Reed Arena a competitive advantage again. Your spirit is woven into every memory we take with us.”

Texas A&M has plenty of work to do this offseason. The program hasn’t named a new head coach this season. Moreover, whoever the Aggies hire will have to revamp the team’s roster, with so many of the players entering the portal.
