Texas A&M guard Rob Dockery has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. He spent two seasons with the Aggies but redshirted during his true freshman season.

Dockery only appeared in one game this season. He recorded an assist but no points or rebounds in Texas A&M’s 64-61 loss to UCF. On Nov. 22, just over two weeks into the season, a team spokesperson confirmed Dockery was no longer with the program.

Rob Dockery played high school basketball at Jackson-Reed, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 163 overall player and No. 35 small forward in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Dockery averaged 14.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in his senior season to lead Jackson-Reed to its second-straight appearance in the DCIAA championship game. For his efforts, he was named an all-city and all-state selection.

He is the first Texas A&M player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Texas A&M’s season ended on Saturday in a 91-79 loss to Michigan in the NCAA Tournament’s Round of 32.

Texas A&M finished the season with a 23-11 record and an 11-7 record in conference play. After the Aggies’ loss to the Wolverines, Texas A&M head coach Buzz Williams reflected on his team’s season.

“I’m incredibly proud of everyone, not just the players, the staff. I’m proud of our accomplishments throughout their tenure, including this year,” Williams said. “I know you’re familiar with all of the numbers. That would be egotistical for me to talk about it. But just as proud as I am of the accomplishments, I’m proud of the life change.

“… I think the development that these long-tenured guys have had has been life-changing. And I do think they’re better players, and our teams have continued to improve. But someday they’re going to be old and can’t play, and someday I’m going to be old and can’t coach. But I think that the relationships were built on faith, hope and love is really cool.”

Buzz Williams has a long offseason ahead of him. The Aggies had eight seniors this season and will have to revamp their roster through the transfer portal and the high school ranks.

Texas A&M has three incoming freshmen next season, including four-star prospect Jeremiah Green. The Aggies haven’t added any talent via the transfer portal yet this offseason.
