The Texas A&M Aggies are one of the hottest teams in the conference, as they secured their eighth SEC victory of the season Saturday following a dominant 82-57 win over Georgia. Following the game, Aggies head coach Buzz Williams spoke about their recent success, attributing a part of it to the dynamic that exists between his younger and older players.

“I think what’s happening is I think the young adults are holding the older adults accountable,” Williams said. “Because they are receiving, understanding, continuing to execute at a higher level the game plan that the staff has given them.”

The Aggies starting five consists of four upperclassmen, but their bench has some underclassmen talent that has made their fair share of contributions this season. Williams played 13 different players in Saturday’s win, with 11 players recording points. They’ve been taking care of business on the court, but Williams believes that their bonds off of the court have been a key catalyst in their recent success.

“They’re very accountable for their work and you can tell that the relationships that those guys have off the floor are bleeding to on the floor,” Williams explained. “And so very thankful for the maturity that our guys have shown so far this month.”

The Aggies have gone 8-2 in the last month, and now sit just two games behind the lead at the top of the conference. It’s been a favorable four weeks in College Station, and their game against Georgia on Saturday could be the best representation of how dangerous they could be and what they’re capable of.

Texas A&M had a dominant performance on both ends of the floor, holding an opponent to less than 60 points for the fourth time in the last month. They held the Bulldogs to just 30.4% shooting from the field and 16.1% from the three-point line while celebrating an impressive 50% field goal percentage of their own on offense. Henry Coleman III and Tyrece Radford had 15 points apiece, the duo’s third straight game scoring in double figures.

They currently rank fourth in the SEC in points per game, field goal percentage, and win margin, and paired with some solid defense become a team that nobody would look forward to playing. The Aggies will look to keep their momentum going in their next matchup versus No. 25 Auburn on Tuesday. Texas A&M upset the Tigers at home just two weeks ago when they were ranked No. 15 in the country, and will have to travel to Neville Arena this time around to secure another big win.
