The fifth-ranked Texas A&M Aggies were struggling against the Portland Pilots on Friday night. And the Aggies were apparently feeling the heat and potential embarrassment of another early season upset in College Station. At the end of the eighth inning, Portland was leading Texas A&M 3-2, when Aggies’ head coach Jim Schlossnagle was ejected for arguing a late strike-three call on Ryan Targac.

Check out the video clip below, as Schlossnagle walks up to the umpire and gives him a piece of his mind, before exiting the field.

Texas A&M already lost earlier this week to Lamar, 7-4.

The Pilots tacked on seven more runs in the ninth inning to push their lead to 10-2 in the top of the ninth inning. All of those runs were scored with two outs. Texas A&M ended up losing 10-3 on Friday night, after they scored one more run in the bottom of the ninth inning. A loss to the Portland Pilots is just yet another ugly early season loss for the fifth-ranked Aggies.

The game will go down as one of the bigger upsets of the college baseball season thus far. The Pilots got two hits and three RBIs from catcher Nich Klemp. He led their team in RBIs. There were multiple players who chipped in, including Briley Knight and Christian Cooney. Both players had two RBIs on the night.

On offense, Texas A&M only had two RBIs–one from Trevor Warner and one from Jack Moss.

With the loss, the Aggies dropped to 3-2 overall on the 2023 season. They’ll face Portland again on Saturday and Sunday. First pitch for those are slated for 2 pm and 1 pm, respectively. Following the series with the Pilots, they’ll face off against Houston Christian on Tuesday, Feb. 28. Then, Texas A&M will open up March with the Shriner’s College Classic.
