Jimbo Fisher addresses what the Alabama game did for Texas A&M

Texas A&M has had a bye week to rest and recover from their heartbreaking 24-20 loss to Alabama the last time they touched the field. The final score of the Aggies last game obviously didn’t go the way they wanted, but there are still lessons that be learned in going down to the wire with one of the nation’s top teams, which Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher discussed this week.
“Like I said, there’s no moral victories and I think it shows you what we’re capable of and how we can do things, but we have to find a way to make those plays to get over the hump,” Fisher said. “Whether it’s in any three phases of what we do, but hopefully we can build from it at least from a confidence standpoint, we know who we were on the field with.”
The Aggies have had a week to digest and learn from their loss, and hopefully they learn fast, as they head into their next game against South Carolina 3-3, coming off of back-to-back SEC west divisional losses.

“But again, that doesn’t take any precedence for what you do at South Carolina. You gotta go back and play well and prepare well and remember the things you did well and the things you made mistakes in the Alabama game one way or another,” Fisher said.

The Gamecocks are coming off of a bye week of their own, but with much different momentum compared to the Aggies. Shane Beamer has led South Carolina to three straight wins heading into their bye week, including a victory over a Kentucky team ranked No. 13 in the AP Poll at the time. South Carolina will be looking to build on their newfound momentum, while the Aggies look to stop it and create their own following their vexing loss to the Crimson Tide.
“You try to build from everything, but hopefully, that will give us some confidence and be able to keep going.”
The Gamecocks are the home team this weekend, as both teams got an extra week of preparation on each other and should enter this weekend feeling fresh and focused coming off of their bye week. Texas A&M will take on South Carolina this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in a game that will air on SEC Network.
