Former Texas A&M OL Cedric Ogbuehi finds new NFL home
Another former Texas A&M star has found a home for the 2022 NFL season.
On Friday, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported the Texans agreed to terms with veteran offensive lineman and former Aggies’ standout Cedric Ogbuehi on a one-year contract.
With Lovie Smith’s new staff in place, the move made sense for several reasons. The former Texas A&M big man worked with new Houston offensive line coach George Warhop during the 2019 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played in 14 games, primarily taking reps at right tackle. Ogbuehi played three games last season in Baltimore.
According to Pro Football Focus, the Houston Texans ranked 29th out of the 32 offensive line groups in the NFL last season.
Eleven different offensive linemen played at least 58 snaps for the Texans this season, with 10 of them playing over 200. The team’s biggest issue is that those who played the most earned some of the worst grades, with the unit’s top three players by workload earning PFF grades between 51.9 and 60.0. Five different linemen earned a run-blocking grade lower than 50.0, and the line as a whole earned the worst PFF run-blocking grade (47.4) in the league — the only unit to grade lower than 55.0.
Drafted out of Texas A&M in 2015 by the Cincinnati Bengals, Ogbuehi has found his niche by playing both tackle and guard positions. Since drafted, he has played in 60 games, starting in 57 with three different teams.
In 2021, Ogbuehi saw action in one game with the Seahawks and in two with the Ravens so it’s clear the former Aggies’ OL is betting on himself with a one-year deal, hoping to have a big season that he could parlay into a long-term contract.

Former Texas A&M star receiver signs contract with NFL team
Josh Reynolds is staying in Detroit.
Reynold signed a contract extension with the Lions through the 2023 season, the team announced Wednesday. He arrived in Detroit as a waiver claim in Week 10 of the 2021 season.
In 12 games with the Lions and Tennessee Titans last year, Reynolds totaled 29 catches for 396 yards and two touchdowns. Most of that production came with Detroit, where he logged 19 receptions for 306 yards and both of his touchdown catches.
Reynolds starred at Texas A&M from 2014-16. In three seasons with the Aggies, he had 164 receptions for 2,788 yards and 30 touchdowns. His best year came as a junior in 2016 when he caught 61 catches for 1,039 yards and 12 touchdown receptions.
The Los Angeles Rams drafted him in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft and he spent four seasons there. Tennessee signed him prior to the 2021 season and, ultimately, waived him. That’s when he headed to Detroit — and that’s where he can stay through 2023.
Detroit had a rough go in 2021, going just 2-15 under first-year head coach Dan Campbell.
