It’s coming down to an in-state battle for 2023 Denton (Tex.) Ryan five-star linebacker Anthony Hill, who announced a top two of Texas A&M and Texas on Wednesday afternoon.

Hill has visited Texas A&M four times in the last year alone, most recently stopping through College Station for the Maroon & White Game back in April, which gave him a chance to connect a little more in-depth with new defensive coordinator D.J Durkin. Hill and his family have strong relationships with Jimbo Fisher, linebackers coach Tyler Santucci and are starting to really connect with Durkin now as well.

“Over the last 3 years Texas A&M has been really constant with recruiting me,” Hill told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “With Coach Santucci, and getting to play with a great D-line would be big.”

He’s planning to return for his official visit to Texas A&M at the end of July for the Aggies’ pool party event, his fifth, and final, official visit he’ll take.

Hill’s father recently told Aggie Scoop that the five-star has visited Texas A&M enough at this point that the visits are more focused on watching film, practice and talking scheme fit more than anything.

“We’re not even talking about football. It’s a personal level,” Hill previously told On3’s Sam Spiegelman. “It’s a little bit scheme, but I’ve been there a lot so I know it well. I’ve been talking to the players and being around them, seeing what they think of the coaches and getting what they really think.”

As a junior last season, Hill accumulated 131 total tackles, including 18 tackles for loss, as well as eight sacks, six quarterback hurries and a pair of interceptions. The five-star is looking to take his recruitment the distance. At the earliest, he is expected to commit this fall but could opt take it all the way to the December early signing period.

As things stands, Texas A&M is the school to beat in Hill’s recruitment per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, which gives the Aggies a 76.9% chance to land the five-star. Texas trails in second with a 13.2% chance to land Hill’s commitment.

Hill ranks as the No. 14 prospect and No. 1 linebacker in the country per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The five-star has an On3 NIL Valuation of $226K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
