Texas A&M baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle had a lot to be happy about following the Aggies beating Louisville in the first game of the super-regional round of the NCAA Tournament. On the top of his list of people to thank: Aggie baseball fans.

Schlossnagle effusively praised Texas A&M’s “12th Man” — the nickname for their crowd presence at home sporting events. The A&M coach said he loves his team’s “next play” mindset. He’s impressed that his guys don’t let one play get them down. They move on after setbacks or mistakes and keep playing their game without getting in their own heads too much.

Schlossnagle credits a lot of that mindset to the fans in the stands. “12th man really plays a big role in that they just won’t let us get down,” Schlossnagle claimed of the crowd. Even with the players are a little down, the home crowd is always energetic enough to pick them up during games.

Schlossnagle also has a bone to pick with whoever keeps attendance records. The Aggie head coach was flabbergasted by the listed attendance of 6,700 people at the park for their win. No way it was that many people according to Schlossnagle. The actual number had to be much, much higher. Schlossnagle even theorized that the only way they could have gotten that number was if they counted with an abacus. You know, the wooden device with pellets and rods that ancient people used to count. Good one, Coach Schloss!

Coach Schlossngale loves his home crowds and is incredibly appreciative of the support in College Station.

WATCH: Texas A&M pulls off comeback win over Louisville

Texas A&M fell behind early against Louisville in Game 1 of the College Station Super Regional but came back for a 5-4 win to place themselves just one win away from the College World Series. After evening things up at four, Troy Claunch provided the winning score — an RBI single past the second baseman.

The Aggies forced Louisville to used six pitchers on the night, creating a significant dent in the bullpen with another game to play on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Texas A&M will look to wrap it up, but the teams will play on Sunday if Louisville wins game two.

Texas A&M head coach Jim Schlossnagle brought Troy Claunch and several other players to College Station this season through the transfer portal. Which has helped build the program back up to its lofty standards in a short period of time.
