The Texas A&M Aggies made it all the way to the CWS Finals in Omaha, before losing to the Tennessee Volunteers in heartbreaking fashion. And then, their head coach, Jim Schlossnagle, decided to join the Texas Longhorns the day after the CWS Finals.

And on Sunday afternoon, they officially got the new man to lead their baseball program, Michael Earley. Here’s the official announcement from the school with the press release.

“I am happy to announce that Michael Earley has been hired as our new Aggie baseball head coach,” Director of Athletics Trev Alberts said in their press release. “Michael is a very talented coach and recruiter, but what stood out to me was his character and the relationships he has built with his current and former players. During our interview process he was really impressive. I think it helps that he knows our current roster, which finished second in the country, and he also knows Aggieland and the 12th Man. I am excited about the future of Aggie baseball. Please help me welcome home Michael and his family back to Aggieland.”

“My family and I couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity,” said Earley. “Thank you, General Welsh and Trev Alberts for putting your trust in me. Being a part of this University and this program are a dream come true. I will not let you down. See you in Omaha!”

Earley was the hitting coach for the Aggies for the past three years, helping guide the team to two College World Series appearances and a national runner up finish in 2024. During his time in College Station, he helped develop the Aggies into one of the most powerful offenses in the SEC. In 2024, Texas A&M set program records for home runs (136) and walks (422). The Aggies led the nation in walks.

In 2024, the trio of Braden Montgomery, Gavin Grahovac, and Jace LaViolette became the first group of teammates in Aggie baseball history to surpass 20 home runs in a single season. LaViolette also became the first player in A&M program history to have back-to-back seasons with 20 or more home runs.

The Aggies also had four players earn All-America honors in 2024, including Grahovac, LaViolette, Montgomery, and Jackson Appel. Grahovac also set the program freshman record for home runs (23), passing his teammate, LaViolette, who set the previous mark in 2023.
