Texas A&M opening June with big visit weekend

Texas A&M is set for a massive visit weekend to open the month of June. It’s expected to be a big month for the Aggies on the recruiting trail with camps and visits in full swing and Texas A&M could even be in line to land a couple commitments this month. Jimbo Fisher and the staff are setting the tone to open the month with eight official visitors and a number of other notable prospects expected in College Station over the next month.

Most notably, 2023 Pittsburg (Cali.) High four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada is set to make an official visit June 3-4. This will be the four-star’s visit to College Station for the first time and the Aggies will have a chance to make a serious move in Rashada’s recruitment ahead of a decision date set for June 18th. With official visits to LSU and Florida set to take place in the days following his OV to Texas A&M, the staff will have to move quickly and prove themselves to be the best option for Rashada during his two day stay in College Station.

2023 Don Bosco Prep four-star offensive tackle Chase Bisontis and 2023 East St. Louis (Ill.) High four-star offensive tackle Miles McVay are both expected to make official visits as well. This will be the first visit both prospects are making to College Station and the Aggies are in prime position to make a move with both, specifically with Bisontis. Texas A&M offered Bisontis back in May 2021, but have surged in recent months since the arrival of new offensive line coach Steve Addazio. As things stand, Texas A&M currently leads in the recruitment of Bisontis per the On3 Prediction Machine, which gives the Aggies a 29.8% chance to land the four-star out of New Jersey.

Texas A&M didn’t initially make the top 12 for McVay, put a late push from the staff not only got the Aggies back in the mix, but helped them land an official visit from the mammoth 6-foot-6, 343 pounder. Alabama, Michigan State and Oregon are among major contenders to know in the mix for the four-star, and the Aggies still have some serious ground to make up. However, with former high school teammate Antonio Johnson in his ear and a push from new offensive line coach Steve Addazio and Jimbo Fisher, the Aggies will have a chance to make up the ground, and potentially more, this weekend.

In addition to Bisontis and McVay, Columbus (Ga.) Carver four-star interior offensive lineman Kelton Smith and Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School three-star offensive tackle Miles Walker are both expected to make official visits to Texas A&M this weekend. Smith was only offered by the Aggies in April and will have a chance to make a move up the four-star’s list of contenders after seeing College Station for the first time. Walker was offered late last month and will make his first trip down to Aggieland this weekend. Though he’s lower rated than most of the other names listed on the visit list, the Aggies do have a need at offensive tackle this cycle and Walker is the type of prospect the staff can lock in sooner rather than later with a successful visit.

Elsewhere on the offensive side of the ball, St. Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers College four-star running back Jeremiyah Love is expected to make an official visit June 3-5. Love is one of the most recent running back offers the staff has made and the four-star is quickly ascending up the rankings after a breakout junior season. He ranks as the No. 216 prospect and No. 10 running back in the country per the On3 Consensus, but ranks even higher in the On300 rankings, as the No. 102 prospect and No. 5 running back nationally.

On the defensive side of the ball, 2023 Oradell (N.J) Bergen Catholic four-star defensive lineman Sydir Mitchell is set to officially visit Texas A&M this weekend. A recent visit to Georgia has the Bulldogs trending in Mitchell’s recruitment, but the Aggies will have a chance to swing this recruitment their way with a successful visit. The staff is in search of a true nose tackle this cycle and Mitchell is high on the Aggies’ limited board of nose tackles.

One notable 2023 unofficial visitor is Camden (S.C) four-star defensive tackle Xzavier McLeod, who was only recently offered by the Aggies. Like the aforementioned Mitchell, McLeod fits the mold of a true nose tackle, standing 6-foot-5, 290 pounds. As things stand, South Carolina, LSU and Georgia are the biggest contenders in the four-star’s recruitment, but Texas A&M will have a chance to make an impression and surge up his list with a strong visit.

Outside of the 2023 crop of visitors, 2024 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell and 2025 Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth defensive lineman Ethan Utley. Johnson-Rubell is coming off his first spring at Florida powerhouse IMG Academy after starting his high school career at Fort Worth (Tex.) Brewer. The sophomore ranks as a top-50 prospect and top-5 safety prospect in the On3 Consensus and is pretty wide open in his recruitment, with schools like Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, Oregon and Miami among those heavily involved. This will be Johnson-Rubell’s first visit to College Station. Utley will be making his first visit down to Aggieland after landing an offer earlier this spring.
