Texas A&M is losing a piece of their defensive line to the transfer portal, as pass rusher Jahzion Harris has entered the transfer portal, per Matt Zenitz of On3.

“Texas A&M second-year EDGE Jahzion Harris has entered the transfer portal, @On3sports has learned,” tweeted Zenitz. “Class of 2021 four-star recruit. The New York native ‘expressed an intent to be closer to home.'”

A four-star recruit from the Class of 2021, Harris was the No. 2 overall recruit out of New York, per the On3 Consensus. Additionally, the Brooklyn, New York product was the No. 21 overall edge rusher in the country, as well as the No. 207 overall recruit.

Last season, Harris appeared in two games for Jimbo Fisher’s squad — against Kent State and Prairie View A&M. In those appearances, he accumulated four total tackles and one sack.

Once a player’s name shows up in the portal, other schools can contact the player. Players can change their minds at any point and withdraw from the portal. However, once a player enters the portal, the current scholarship no longer has to be honored. In other words, if a player enters the portal but decides to stay, the school is not obligated to provide a scholarship anymore.

The database is a normal database, sortable by a variety of topics, including (of course) sport and name. A player’s individual entry includes basic details such as contact info, whether the player was on scholarship and whether the player is transferring as a graduate student.

A player can ask that a “do not contact” tag be placed on the report. In those instances, the players don’t want to be  contacted by schools unless they’ve initiated the communication.
