It’s a new era in College Station, as Mike Elko is amidst his first season as head coach at Texas A&M. Along with high expectations on the field comes high expectations on the recruiting trail.

After the Aggies finished just inside the top 20 of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings last cycle, things are looking up for the Lone Star SEC program. A&M’s class ranks No. 9 in the nation and No. 7 in the SEC, as of Oct. 12.

The class is now made up of 22 prospects, headlined by three top-100 pledges from the West Coast and a myriad of in-state athletes.

Texas A&M Class Breakdown

Corona (Calif.) Centennial five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet committed on April 14 and is a centerpiece addition for Elko and Co. The top-30 prospect is now the No. 4 QB in the nation and headlines the three Golden State standouts in the A&M class.

Lancaster (Calif.) Quartz Hill four-star cornerback Adonyss Currie is one of five defensive backs in the class. He pledged on May 24 and is the No. 7 player at his position. Other DBs in the mix include Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek four-star CB Cobey Sellers, Katy (Texas) Paetow four-star SAF Deyjhon Pettaway and Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge four-star CB Jamar Beal-Goines. All four check in inside the top 220 in the On3 Industry Ranking.

La Verne (Calif.) Bonita four-star linebacker Noah Mikhail joined the class on June 30. The Aggies beat out Oregon for the No. 98 overall recruit and No. 10 LB in the cycle. With Mikhail’s commitment, A&M now has three of the top 10 players in California on its pledge list. Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley four-star EDGE Marco Jones is also in the class as the No. 149 overall prospect.

Belleville (Texas) four-star defensive lineman DJ Sanders is one of the latest blue-chipper to pledge, as he entered the fold on Aug. 7. The 6-foot-4, 325-pounder is the No. 86 overall prospect and No. 9 DL in the nation. Jasper (Texas) four-star tight end commit Kiotti Armstrong announced his decision on June 14. The No. 4 TE in the nation, Armstrong also checks in as the No. 1001 overall prospect and No. 20 player in Texas.

DeSoto (Texas) four-star running back Deondrae Riden is a top-25 burner and provided a recruiting boost with his pledge in February. Denton (Texas) Ryan four-star interior offensive lineman Marcus Garcia, Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair four-star defensive lineman Landon Rink and Cypress (Texas) Bridgeland four-star offensive tackle Jonte Newman are all top-400 recruits.

Top Offensive Commit: QB Husan Longstreet

As Longstreet’s commitment began to wind down, A&M emerged as a legitimate contender. The Aggies fended off a late push from Auburn to land the gunslinger, who’s now the No. 24 recruit in the cycle as well as the No. 2 player in the Golden State.

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this of Longstreet as a prospect:

“New Texas A&M commit Husan Longstreet could have the strongest arm in the cycle. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder from Corona (Calif.) Centennial has elite arm talent with the ability to generate palpable velocity on his throws. Longstreet is a twitchy passer and mover and excels in the RPO game and as a downfield passer. He sports the biggest hands of any top 2025 quarterback and it’s easy to see, given the force he’s able to generate on his throws.”

Top Defensive Commit: CB Adonyss Currie

Currie’s commitment came as a surprise on May 24. He now headlines an elite quartet of DBs in A&M’s 2025 class as the No. 70 overall prospect, No. 7 corner and No. 4 player in California.

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this of Currie:

“I think for starters he has an outstanding combination of stature and speed. His top-end speed stacks up with anybody in the cycle at corner. He’s proven to be fluid and coordinated in coverage situations. We’ve had a chance to see him in person a few times already. He’s looked good in the neutral settings against top receivers and backs that up on Friday nights. When you look at his speed he consistently runs in the sub 11.0s and 10.5 range at his best. His physical traits project really well at the position.”
