Texas A&M recruiting success standing out to experts
The Texas A&M football recruiting success is standing out among experts. On3’s J.D. PicKell made sure to remind everyone of the recruiting prowess of head coach Jimbo Fisher.
Fisher landed some big classes, but the on-the-field success hasn’t quite translated to titles. But if both can come to fruition, Fisher and Texas A&M would finally feel vindicated with the fruits of their labor on the recruiting trail.
But with a summer 2023 push, it seems like the future of Texas A&M football is bright based on its recruiting.
“Here come the Aggies, now they’re in the top 10 of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, currently sitting at number nine,” PicKell said on The Hard Count. “And there’s a lot of jokes made about Jimbo Fisher after they had the No. 1 class in ‘22 and the No. 15 class in ‘23. Y’all at the end of the day, Jimbo Fisher knows how to recruit.
“They have stocked that roster with talent, which we’ll talk more about later in this live show. I mean, they made a statement landing five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman out of the state of Alabama. They also landed receiver Jaylan Hornsby on the first of July, had two crucial head to head wins over USC to finish out June.”

Based on the latest update, the Aggies actually moved up to No. 8 in the Class of 2024. Coleman was the first five-star prospect in the current class to commit to the Aggies.
NIL or top recruiting or both? That’s the question PicKell pegged. But it seems to be a combination of both as Texas A&M saw some wins on the recruiting trail.
“Like A&M, keep an eye on them now,” PicKell said. “Keep an eye as we go on throughout July, they’re going to be a force to be reckoned with on the recruiting trail. So much is made about NIL and about what Texas A&M is doing on that front. And to say that NIL is just the reason that A&M is landing these kids, I think is a little bit far-fetched.
“Is it a factor? I think it’s a factor in most high profile recruitments. But to say that that’s the only reason they landed these kids, I think typically, that’s just bitter fans saying bitter things. So A&M, absolutely off to a hot start in the month of July.”
