Texas A&M staff reportedly set to meet with recruits amid news of Jimbo Fisher's dismissal
Members of Texas A&M’s coaching staff are scheduled to meet with multiple top commitments on Sunday morning after news broke of head coach Jimbo Fisher’s impending dismissal, according to a report from Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger.
The Aggies hold a top-10 recruiting class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and are one of just a handful of programs with three or more five-star commitments this cycle.
Among those pledges are five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley and four-star defensive lineman Gabriel Reliford, both of whom were in College Station this weekend on unofficial visits.
Both have been top flip targets for a handful of schools this fall, and if Fisher is dismissed as head coach, that will only intensify.
Texas A&M five-star wide receiver commit Cam Coleman is visiting Florida State this weekend and told Warchant.com that the only other trips he plans to take this season are a return visit to Auburn and an official visit back to Tallahassee.
Meanwhile, LSU and a handful of other schools have been in pursuit of both Reliford and five-star Aggies athlete commit Terry Bussey, who pledged to Fisher and Co. earlier this fall.

Fisher’s dismissal could come as early as Sunday
Dellenger also reported Texas A&M is moving in the direction of firing Fisher, as early as Sunday.
“Texas A&M is moving closer to a decision on firing Jimbo Fisher, sources tell Yahoo Sports,” Dellenger wrote on Twitter. “A team meeting is planned for later today. The groundwork for the move was laid Thursday during executive session of the A&M Board of Regents.”
Fisher was given an eye-popping 10-year, $100 million contract extension in 2021 after taking the program over in 2018.
During that time though, the Aggies finished just 44-25 despite multiple top-10 recruiting classes and never made an appearance in the SEC Championship game.
Fisher led the Aggies to a 9-1 record in 2020 during the COVID shortened season, but never reached double-digit victories in College Station.
