Trev Alberts opens up on his vision for the future of Texas A&M baseball
Trev Alberts was pretty honest about his vision for the future of Texas A&M baseball. As the Aggies introduced new head coach Michael Earley, Alberts listed his bullet points.
Earley was originally slated to join former head coach Jim Schlossnagle at Texas, but quickly pivoted and came back to AggieLand. After serving as the hitting coach and helping Texas A&M get to the College World Series finals, he’s ready for more.
Certainly that aligns with Alberts, the newly minted athletic director, and what he sees for the program.

“People ask me all the time, ‘Well, what’s your vision for the baseball program,’” Alberts said. “No, that’s not my vision. I think it’s our shared vision. Number one, we’re going to have the best coaches in college baseball. We’re going to hire servant leaders, coaches, where it ain’t about them. It’s about serving these guys. We’re gonna have the best development program in college baseball, because that’s what he’s all about right? We’re going to have the best stadium in college baseball. With your help, that of our donors, and that of our regents, an $80 million upgrade to Blue Bell is going to be a game changer.
“And it’s going to be the best atmosphere and the best environment in college baseball. That’s the vision. And finally, we’re gonna have the best fan experience, because that’s what changes the whole environment in Blue Bell.”

Texas A&M baseball has a bright future ahead
To realize Alberts’ vision, Earley is the right man for the Texas A&M job.
Texas A&M had tons of offensive success under Earley, hitting a program record 136 home runs in 2024. The Aggies also had a slugging percentage of .543 and a team on-base percentage of .415 for the 2024 season.
“So, yeah, just a lot of different things, lot of moving pieces,” Earley said ahead of his introductory presser. “It seemed like it was slow in the moment but like you said, it happened pretty fast. They reached out, made contact. I think everything that I gave them in my plan for this team, they obviously loved and here we are today.”
The hope is that Earley is going to be able to provide stability as the staff turns over and prevent too many players from leaving in the Transfer Portal. On top of that, he knows what it takes to win in College Station and now has the goal of winning that final game in Omaha.
