Officials at Texas A&M issued a Code Maroon to students and staff who may be around Kyle Field and the Bright Building on the College Station campus on Thursday. The alert says a bomb threat was received for Kyle Field. As a precaution, the area is under an evacuation notice as University police search the facilities.

Officials have asked everyone to avoid the area. The Code Maroon went out at 1:25 p.m. CT on Thursday.

The University will post new updates on the emergency alerts page.

A new update, posted at 2:07 p.m. CT, says all activities within Kyle Field and the Bright Football Complex are postponed until further notice. However, all other campus activities can proceed. The alert means the Aggie football team won’t practice on Thursday afternoon.

“University police is utilizing its explosive detection K-9s to sweep both facilities,” per the alert.

Kyle Field, the home of the 12th man, will be empty this Saturday as the Aggie football team enjoys a bye week. Next weekend, they travel to South Carolina for night kickoff.

Jimbo Fisher makes no excuses following loss vs. Alabama

Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher came close to knocking off Alabama for the second straight year over the weekend but came up four points shy of the win. The Aggies took their third loss of the season with a final score of 24-20.

Injuries were a major storyline entering the game, most notably Alabama quarterback Bryce Young who did not play in the game.

Following his team’s loss, Fisher discussed the injuries on his team but noted both teams had talent missing.

“Well we didn’t have Ainias Smith, we didn’t have a left tackle, we didn’t have our left guard, we didn’t have McKinnley Jackson — first time he’s played — we didn’t have Shemar Turner,” Fisher said after the game. “I mean, we have been shorthanded all year, too. We don’t look for qualms and he won’t either. I know Nick (Saban); he ain’t gonna look for no qualms.

“I mean, we’re playing a backup quarterback too. It was two good teams that looked up, battled and went at it. Shows you what we’re capable of.”
