Tre Watson commits to Texas A&M following Kalen DeBoer departure
The Texas A&M Aggies have just landed a quality recruit from out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. On Saturday, former Washington Huskies commit tight end Tre Watson announced that he has had a change of heart and is committing to playing for newly acquired head coach Mike Elko and the Aggies for the upcoming 2024 season.
Watson has been with Fresno State since the 2021 season. From his freshman season on, he was a key piece to the Bulldogs’ offense, playing in 12 games. However, his sophomore season was ended early due to an injury. However, he did follow that up with an excellent 2023 season.
In 2023, Tre Watson had 38 receptions for 378 yards and four touchdowns.
Tre Watson played high school football at Rio Rancho (NM), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,716 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Watson re-entered the transfer portal shortly after news broke that Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer was headed to Tuscaloosa, AL, to become the next head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide following the abrupt retirement of legendary head coach Nick Saban.
