Following the conclusion of the 2022 NFL Draft on Saturday, three Texas A&M players signed contracts as undrafted free agents. Tight end Jalen Wydermyer went to the Buffalo Bills, defensive tackle Jayden Peevy to the Tennessee Titans and defensive back Leon O’Neal to the San Francisco 49ers.

All three players will hope to prove they belong on an NFL roster at rookie minicamps in May.

In three seasons with the Aggies, Wydermyer proved himself as a reliable end zone target and will aim to do the same with the Bills. A second team All-SEC selection this past season according to both the AP and league coaches, the tight end posted a career-best 515 yards receiving and four touchdowns on 40 catches. He was named a finalist for the Mackey Award, given annually to college football’s top tight end, in both 2020 and 2021. Wydermyer ends his college career with 1,468 yards receiving and 16 touchdowns on 118 receptions.

On the other side of the ball, Peevy and O’Neal helped to anchor an Aggies defense that finished among the top three in the SEC in total defense the past two seasons. That includes a No. 1 finish in 2020 when A&M gave up an average of just 317.3 yards per game.

Starting at safety this past season, O’Neal finished fifth on the team with 58 tackles in addition to two interceptions, five passes defended and a sack. He ends his career in College Station with 161 total tackles and six interceptions. According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Texas A&M safety’s undrafted free agent deal includes a $50,000 base salary guarantee, as well as a $10,000 signing bonus.

Peevy was an equal important part of the A&M defense starting at defensive tackle. He ended the 2021 season with 43 tackles (seven for loss), a pair of sacks and a forced fumble.
