True Freshman Report: Snap Counts, Grades against Ole Miss

Texas A&M’s 31-28 loss to Ole Miss was gutting, but once again, the Aggies‘ true freshmen shined, including quarterback Conner Weigman, who made his first start and established himself as the starting quarterback for the remainder of the season.
Here, we break down the snap counts and grades for Texas A&M’s true freshmen on Saturday from Pro Football Focus’ (PFF) initial grades (offense and defense only), where a single-game mark of about 64 is considered average.
Freshmen on Offense
Conner Weigman – 75 snaps
The Cypress (Tex.) Bridgeland shined in his debut, completing 28 of 44 attempts for 344 yards and four touchdowns. He finished with a grade of 87.5, the highest grade in the FBS by a true-freshman quarterback in a single game this season with at least 15 snaps.
Kam Dewberry – 75 snaps
The freshman out of Humble (Tex.) Atascocita made his second start on Saturday and played every single offensive snap at left guard. He’s likely to start the rest of the year.
Donovan Green – 54 snaps
The freshman tight end saw considerable action alongside tight end Max Wright against the Rebels and finished the day with four receptions for 48 yards. He had a PFF grade of 76.1 on the night.
Noah Thomas – 52 snaps
The freshman out of Clear Springs played the most snaps he has all season and finished the night with his first career reception and touchdown, a two-yard reception to bring the Aggies within three points late in the game.
Evan Stewart – 49 snaps
Stewart had his second touchdown of his career, and another big night receiving, finishing with six receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown on Saturday. He continues to be the Aggies most dynamic receiving threat, and has had at least one highlight reel catch every week. He finished with a grade of 72.1 on the night
Le’Veon Moss – 1 snap
The freshman running back got in for one snap, a single carry for no-gain.
Freshmen on Defense
Jacoby Mathews – 73 snaps
The freshman out of Louisiana played the most snaps he has all season and finished with three tackles, one pass breakup, one quarterback pressure and allowed two receptions in coverage.

Bryce Anderson – 72 snaps
Anderson played in a bigger role for the second straight week with Antonio Johnson out and put on another big performance. He finished with four tackles and allowed just three receptions in 28 coverage snaps.
Walter Nolen – 35 snaps
The top-ranked prospect in the 2022 class graded out as the second best defender on Saturday in rotational snaps. He finished with five tackles and one pressure on the quarterback with a grade of 76.9 on the night.
Shemar Stewart – 31 snaps
In rotational snaps, Stewart finished with one tackle and one pressure on the quarterback.
Lebbeus Overton – 27 snaps
Overton rotated in at defensive end and finished with three tackles on the night.
Jarred Kerr – 20 snaps
Kerr started the game, but rotated in throughout the night at defensive back. In 20 snaps, he had one tackle and allowed just one reception in six snaps in coverage.
Marquis Groves-Killebrew – 17 snaps
After missing much of the season with injury, the freshman out of Georgia made his first appearance on Saturday rotating in at defensive back. He finished with one tackle and didn’t let up a single reception on the night.
Smoke Bouie – 13 snaps
The freshman out of Georgia rotated in at cornerback and finished with one tackle on the night and didn’t allow a reception in five snaps in coverage.
Enai White – 6 snaps
Back in action for the first time since early in the season, White finished with one tackle and one tackle for loss in limited snaps.
