Tyree Johnson leaves South Carolina game with injury

While Texas A&M absolutely throttled South Carolina tonight 44-14, they may have suffered a major loss. One of the Aggies’ best defenders had to be helped off the field on Saturday night. Defensive end Tyree Johnson, one of the best pass rushers on the Aggie roster, was helped off the field by trainers late in the third quarter.
He suffered a non-contact injury to his right leg as he was rushing the passer. When he was being helped off the field by trainers, he could not put pressure on the leg.
Johnson has established himself as one of the best rushers in America lately. He racked up two sacks and two tackles in the game against South Carolina before he was injured. He left the game late in the third quarter with his injury and did not return to the game.
The talented pass rusher has now racked up five sacks in the last three games.
He’s looking like an unblockable force of nature out there.
Tyree Johnson: SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week
Johnson was a star in the Aggies 41-38 upset win over Alabama just a few weeks ago, as he racked up two sacks and four tackles on the night. He was named Co-SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance.
Johnson has notched six sacks so far in the 2021 season, a new career high.
If he keeps that kind of production up, he’s going to be drawing some attention from the NFL.

Texas A&M throttled South Carolina 44-14. The game simply wasn’t close from start to finish. The Aggies led 31-0 at halftime and the Gamecocks never had a chance. South Carolina only had 11 total yards in the first half.
Texas A&M averaged six yards a play on the night on offense. The Aggies racked up 477 total yards of offense against South Carolina–a season high against a SEC opponent.
They had several big plays from offensive playmakers like Ainias Smith, Jalen Wydermyer, and both of their running backs (Devon Achane and Isaiah Spiller). Both running backs rushed for over 100 yards on the ground against South Carolina.
