Wade Taylor injury update: Texas A&M guard's status revealed for Kentucky game

Texas A&M will be without its leading scorer on the road against Kentucky on Tuesday night.
Wade Taylor, who averages 15.7 points per game for the Aggies, is out for undisclosed reasons, according to reports. He hasn’t played for Texas A&M since Jan. 4 against Texas, and has missed the last two games.
Kentucky starting forward Andrew Carr is also probable, as he is reportedly dealing with back issues.
While Carr looks to get back into the lineup on Tuesday, Taylor won’t be so lucky.
The last time Taylor was on the court was during the SEC opener against in-state rival Texas. However, he was off the court for an extended period during the contest. He started the second half but after a few possessions, was subbed out by head coach Buzz Williams.
That was looked at as an unusual move for a player averaging just over 30 minutes per game. It was later revealed that Taylor was complaining about some tightness in his knee. He did eventually return during the contet, but was ruled out against Oklahoma last week and did not play against Alabama over the weekend. Now, he’s set to miss the road trip to Kentucky.
An in-game report during the Texas matchup from Parker Rehm of FOX 44 revealed some insight on what type of injury Taylor could be dealing with.

“Wade Taylor IV just came into the locker room tunnel next to the postgame press conference room complaining about knee tightness,” Rhem reported. “He said ‘It just feels like jelly.’ He sprinted into the locker room after getting it stretched out.”
That’s bad news for the Aggies, as Taylor has been historically successful against the Wildcats. In 2023, Taylor scored a combined 63 points against Kentucky across two games. Scoring 31 points in a January overtime win at home, the Aggies and Wildcats would meet again in the SEC Tournament semifinal where he scored 32 in a 10-point victory.
Taylor hasn’t scored to that level so far during the 2024-25 season, however. In 13 games, the fourth-year Aggies star has scored 20 or more points in just one game after doing so 14 times last season including a 41-point performance in a loss to Arkansas.
Texas A&M will now have to go forward without its star player for the third-straight game. Tip-off in Lexington is set for Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET live on ESPN2.
