After a three-game absence, Wade Taylor IV made his return on Saturday in Texas A&M‘s 68-57 win over LSU. After the game, Aggies head coach Buzz Williams revealed when he knew that Taylor would be playing against the Tigers.

“We just kind of follow whatever the doctors and (trainer) Eddie (Binion) have as far as the protocol relative to whatever the specificity of the injury is,” Williams said. “He has made progress since the Sunday after Texas, but it’s been marginal relative to the protocol that we were following.

“He’s kind of following his own itinerary, different than us, but I think he’s made good progress. He was able to practice completely yesterday, and then we have to turn in the mandatory report, yeah, mandatory report at 7 o’clock. And so after practice, he went through post practice evaluations, and then I met with he and Eddie at 6:30 [p.m.] yesterday.”

Taylor didn’t hesitate to make an impact in his return. In the win over LSU, he tallied 12 points, four rebounds and four assists. Naturally, Taylor still showed signs of rust, connecting on just 3-of-his-13 attempts from the field.

Nonetheless, Texas A&M is happy to have Wade Taylor IV back on the floor. Taylor is averaging the second-most points per game for the Aggies with 15.4, while adding 3.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per contest as well. Taylor is excited to able to help his team again.

“It has been a minute since I have seen the ball go in the hole, so it definitely felt good,” Taylor said. “Thankful for my teammates for keeping me together. It was rough missing three games. I have never missed a game since I have been playing here or in my life.

“… I knew I had to give my team 100 percent. I couldn’t come back with anything less than that. I had to be 100 percent to give my team what they needed from me. I’m thankful I waited and the guys stepped up and we came up with some wins.”

With the win, Texas A&M improved to 3-2 in conference play. The Aggies are currently tied for third place in the SEC standings. On Wednesday, Texas A&M will look to add to its résumé when it squares off against Ole Miss at 9 p.m. ET.

It will be the Aggies’ fourth ranked matchup in their last five games. The game will air live on ESPN2.
