Wade Taylor reveals halftime message against Arkansas
A 12-5 run from Arkansas sent Texas A&M into the locker room facing a nine-point deficit inside Reed Arena. The Aggies had dug themselves into a hole with several scoring droughts that were caused by a 29.6% mark from the field and six turnovers. However, after coming back to win by six, Wade Taylor says it was all about getting back to who they were.
Taylor broke down his team’s halftime discussion following their 62-56 win over the Razorbacks on Wednesday night. He said they just had to get back to basics after being inconsistent on both ends.
“Just being us. We weren’t us in the first half,” said Taylor. “They had more offensive rebounds than we had, we didn’t have as many turnovers as we needed. We were being inconsistent for a nine-minute stretch and they just kept pounding it inside. We just didn’t respond the right way in the first half.”
In total, Texas A&M won the second half by a score of 38-23. It started with a 12-4 run to open the half and a 9-3 run to finish the game.

A big key to that was shooting a better percentage. They also dropped the Razorback’s from 52% in the first half to 36%. From there, A&M turned the rebound battle around from a six-board loss to a nine-board win while also forcing seven turnovers and limiting theirs down to three.
A&M flipped the script in order to pick up a very key SEC win on their home floor. It was a quality victory over a tournament team that kept them a game from first place in the league. It was also the kind of gritty battle that will continue to prepare them for their difficult five-game stretch to end the regular season as well as the postseason.
