‘1000% committed:’ Aeryn Hampton reinforces Texas commitment
On Sunday, Texas picked up a commitment from 2024 four-star athlete Aeryn Hampton of Daingerfield, Texas. But it didn’t take long for speculation to rise that he wasn’t totally on board with the Longhorns.
However, Hampton took to social media on Monday to quash speculation.
“I am 1000% Committed To the University of Texas,” Hampton said in a tweet. “Trust me!!!!”
The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder selected the Longhorns over offers from TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma State, SMU and UTSA. Texas A&M is also monitoring his recruitment, but the Aggies have yet to offer.
Hampton committed and then decommitted from Baylor earlier this fall. He becomes the second member of Texas’ 2024 class along with Aledo cornerback Jaden Allen of Aledo, Texas.
Aeryn Hampton currently does not have an On3 Consensus ranking. But On3 has him on its early Watch List and ranks him as a four-star prospect.
Hampton has an On3 NIL Valuation of $7,900. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time. Hampton ranks No. 1,261 in the High School Football NIL Rankings.

Aeryn Hampton says Texas is ‘home’
When Aeryn Hampton announced his commitment to the Longhorns on Sunday, he told On3’s Inside Texas he loved his time in Austin. He was on campus for the Texas junior day recently and spent one-on-one time with coach Steve Sarkisian.
“I love Texas,” Hampton told Inside Texas. “It just feels like home. The facilities and how they make you feel at home are the main reasons. I’m a Longhorn, man.”
Hampton had a breakout 2021 season for the Daingerfield Tigers, totaling 44 receptions, 1,029 yards, 74 tackles, nine interceptions and 23 total touchdowns. Hampton garnered 3A first-team all-state honors on defense, along with second-team all-state honors on offense.
