After coming up short in the College Football Playoff Semifinals in back-to-back seasons, Arch Manning is stepping in as Texas‘ starting quarterback, and the Longhorns are motivated to take the next step in their ascension back to the top of the college football world.
With that in mind, FanDuel Sportsbook has released the over/under as it pertains to wins for many of the sport’s top teams for the 2025 campaign. Texas’ number has been set at 9.5, and that’ll be their benchmark for this coming season.
Will they be able to reach double-digit wins in 2025? That’s the question, and it won’t be easy for the Longhorns. Manning will have no time to catch his breath, as Texas faces the reigning, defending national champions in the Ohio State Buckeyes in Week 1, as the freshly-minted starting quarterback for the Horns will be hoping to deliver a measure of revenge for Ryan Day’s team ending their season in 2024.
After their trip to Columbus, Texas will have a bit of a reprieve throughout September. Their next four weeks consist of two home games against San Jose State and UTEP, before a bye week and another home game against Sam Houston takes center stage. When conference play begins though, they’ll be pushed to the limit.
As the Longhorns learned in 2024, it’s fast, loud and difficult to play in the SEC. It begins with a trip to Gainesville to face a much-improved Florida squad on Oct. 4. Then, emotions will certainly be running high, when the Red River Rivalry returns, as Texas takes on Oklahoma inside Cotton Bowl Stadium on Oct. 11.

While Steve Sarkisian’s team can’t get caught looking ahead, they’ll enjoy their second bye week on Nov. 8, before a gauntlet to end their crusade. Texas heads to Sanford Stadium in Athens for an SEC Championship Game rematch with the Georgia Bulldogs the next week, and they’re not happy about the way their 2024 came to a close in the College Football Playoff.
After returning home to face Arkansas on Nov. 22, Texas A&M will come to DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium for the finale of the regular season on Nov. 29. The Longhorns and the Aggies are always at each other’s throats when they play, and expect 2025 to be no different.
All told, it won’t be an easy ride for Arch Manning as Texas’ quarterback in 2025, and he’s not expecting it to be. Whether they can reach their ten-win benchmark remains to be seen, but count the Lonbghorns out at your own risk this coming season.
