Bijan Robinson breaks down Texas' quarterback competition between Hudson Card, Quinn Ewers
Big 12 media days are underway this week in Arlington. Thursday afternoon, the ESPN crew got a chance to catch up with star Texas running back Bijan Robinson to discuss all things Longhorns and where he sees his development going this season. Also as part of his appearance, the backfield veteran shared his thoughts on Texas quarterbacks Hudson Card and Quinn Ewers.
Here were his thoughts on Card after the redshirt freshman played off an on last season.
“With Hudson, this is his third year going into college football. He’s seen a lot of things. He’s learned a lot of things. Having last year, and being able to go against a lot of highs and lows — you know, we dealt with some losses. He learned from that. And just seeing him now become a better leader and understand the offense at a different level than he did last year — it’s just really fun to watch. And to see him progress and try to succeed.”
Then he addressed Transfer Portal gem Quinn, who was No. 4 on the On3 transfer rankings, and was also a five-star and the No. 3 player in his high school class in 2021. As high-pedigree as they come out of the portal.

“You know, he’s a young guy. He’s just trying to learn and understand what he needs to do for this offense. I think, just me talking to him on a daily basis, just asking him…’are you doing alright?’ Like outside of football. ‘How’s life?’ How’s school?’ Making sure that he’s not just focused on the football aspect, but being a well-rounded guy. So I think that’s very huge for him. And I like him coming in, trying to deal with a lot of expectations. So I just tell him there’s no expectations, there’s no pressure. You don’t have to worry about other outside noise. Just go out there and do what you do.”
Hudson Card knows well that playing quarterback at Texas is a tall task, accompanied by a lot of pressure. Bijan Robinson hopes both quarterbacks, which ever one starts, can stay calm and not let the weight of the world bring them down.
