Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson spoke with college football analyst Matt Leinart. While speaking to him, Robinson tried to explain what Texas needs to do to be ‘back.’

It has almost become a joke in college football to ask if Texas is back. One of the game’s most prestigious programs, the Longhorns haven’t played to the level that their fans expect them to play in recent years. So, while that question of being ‘back’ is a joke, it’s also challenging to define the place where the program belongs.

“Finishing,” Bijan Robinson said. “You know, having that toughness to want to dominate everybody and not just coming into a game.”

“You know, just understanding that we got to get through a game, and playing football, but actually like it means something to us and us coming to play as hard as we can and to finish the game,” Bijan Robinson said.

“Because, you know, the talent on this team, I just love to see it around me, and now that we have it, now we just got to put it all together and just come together as one with the chemistry and just go out there and finish these games, you know, how we want to finish them.”

In the context of the question, being back means being a contender. It’s going to be hard for Bijan Robinson and Texas to be a contender for the College Football Playoff this season, given their next game against Alabama, before going through the Big 12 slate. However, if Texas being back means winning the Big 12, then that’s the goal coach Steve Sarkisian set for this team.

Whatever it means, as Bijan Robinson says, Texas needs to finish games and play each one of them with more passion to get there.

Bijan Robinson puts perspective on the Alabama game

A lot of people are assuming that Alabama will beat Texas on Saturday. However, Texas still thinks they can make it a game. Bijan Robinson put this game in perspective.

“I think they have a game plan too. But that’s why we’re game planning as much as we can, as hard as we can. To understand that we have, what plays, what advantage we have over them that we want to execute. And running the ball is important in this game, you know. They have a really good run-stopping defense,” Bijan Robinson said.

“You know, just like how I prepare for everybody. I know that most teams who I play against, who we play against, you know, they’re always trying to stop the run. And, you know, for me I just gotta, you know, go in there with the mindset of dominating. Let God take over the rest. Hopefully, I come out healthy and the whole team comes out on top.”

“Well for us, adversity is everywhere. I know we’re the underdogs in the game. But, you know, I think we’ve done a really good job of really canceling out adversity. Or when adversity is coming, we do a really good job of trying to come together even closer. And we’re gonna point it out. We’re going to say, like…this wins, we gotta come closer as a team and adversity is coming hard on this team. So I appreciate it honestly. Because you know, it gets a stronger team instantly and physically.”
