Bijan Robinson recalls faith being main factor in choosing Texas
Bijan Robinson was pretty specific when it came to choosing Texas. His faith played a major factor in him choosing the Longhorns out of high school.
The Atlanta Falcons running back will go down as one of the best to come through the university and it seems like there was a lot of belief all around. Yes, there were also coaches that made an impact as well.
But he felt Texas was always the right place for him in the end once he prayed and thought on the decision.
“Just a lot of prayer,” Robinson said on Bussin’ With the Boys. “My faith is my biggest thing. So I just knew like, that’s where God wanted me to go. And I mean, what three years later, he was right but it was more so like the coaches there. I mean I had my first running back coach, Coach (Stan) Drayton. He was like the best college running back coach in the country. I mean, he had Ezekiel Elliott at Ohio State … He has so many guys. So when I went to him, it was a no-brainer.”
Robinson mentioned how his college career got off to a rough start, but he trusted the process.
“In my first year,, it was hard because I had COVID,” Robinson said. “So it was a COVID year for me, I came in the summer so I didn’t have that spring development.
“But it was a good time. Like just go in there and learn from him at first and then obviously he got a head coaching job and then the rest was history with coach (Tachard) Choice.”
Robinson’s freshman year was just nine games and he finished with 86 carries for 703 yards, four touchdowns, 15 catches, 196 receiving yards and two touchdown catches.

But from there, he broke out. He had 195 carries for 1,127 yards, 11 touchdowns , 26 catches, 295 receiving yards and four touchdown receptions as a sophomore.
Then in 2022, he went off and was a huge part of the offense with 258 carries, 1,580 yards, 18 touchdowns, 19 catches, 314 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions.
As a rookie for the Falcons in 2023, Robinson ran 214 times for 976 yards, four touchdowns, 58 catches, 487 receiving yards and four touchdown receptions.
Clearly he can do it all and he’ll be a big piece for Atlanta if the team hopes to win the NFC South.
