Brock Cunningham flashes Hook 'Em Horns on way to locker room after ejection vs. Texas Tech
After Brock Cunningham hip-checked a Texas Tech player during Tuesday night’s game, the officials headed to the monitor to review for a potential Flagrant 2. The call stood, and Cunningham was ejected as a result – meaning his day was done.
On his way to the locker room, though, Cunningham made sure to show his Texas pride.
Cunningham threw up a Hook ‘Em Horns as he headed to the tunnel. That was how his night ended following his ejection, which came after he totaled nine points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Longhorns.
Brock Cunningham’s nine points Tuesday night were one away from his season-high as he continues to play a key role for Texas off the bench. His ejection was one part of the conversation from the game, though, because a wild scene followed his departure.
Even though the call went in their favor, Texas Tech fans were not happy with what unfolded on the court. They began to throw debris, with water and beer bottles coming from the stands. A class B technical foul was then called on the Red Raiders, giving Texas a pair of shots from the free throw line.
Head coach Grant McCasland had to go over the microphone, pleading the fans to stop. Every piece of debris on the court would result in another technical foul against the Red Raiders. ESPN’s Fran Fraschilla pointed out that if three do get called, McCasland would be the one ejected.

“Everybody listen,” McCasland said. “Hey, right here. Everybody listen. Everything that gets thrown on the floor, we’re going to get a technical foul. Listen to me. It’s got to stop. It’s got to stop. Nothing else on the floor. Am I clear?”
Ultimately, only one Class B technical foul was called, and play resumed.
Although Texas Tech made a surge, Texas held on to get the 81-69 victory to improve to 7-8 in league play. The Longhorns got big nights from Dylan Disu and Max Abmas, who led the way with 21 and 18 points, respectively. For the Red Raiders, Pop Isaacs led the way with 17 points while Darrion Williams came in right behind him with 16.
Texas will begin its final stretch of the season on Saturday against Oklahoma State while Texas Tech – now 19-9 overall and 8-7 in league play – will take on West Virginia that day, as well.
