One play turned out to be a double blow for the Texas Longhorns. Both right tackle Cameron Williams and running back Quintrevion Wisner went down with injuries after Clemson was able to sniff out a screen pass. Williams was there attempting to pull Wisner forward before both had a swarm of defenders collapse on them.

Wisner was able to get to his feet quite quickly, walking off the field with a little assistance. The same cannot be said about Williams, not putting my weight on his right leg. Trainers did have to assist him to the sideline, potentially a huge loss for Texas.

Running back depth has been a problem for Steve Sarkisian all season. CJ Baxter and Christian Clark were done for the year before a game was even played, going down with knee and Achilles injuries, respectfully. Wisner has stepped up in a big way for Texas, especially down the stretch.

“He has been on the bike down here,” ESPN’s Laura Rutledge said in an update. “Trying to keep his right leg moving, at least as much as possible. But he’s been in a lot of pain.”

His impact was being felt against Clemson in the first half too. Wisner has 10 carries for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Jaydon Blue likely now takes over as Texas’ main back, luckily already having 49 yards on the afternoon, including a 38-yard touchdown.

Moving back to Williams, Rutledge initially said Texas trainers took his helmet away. But when they took back over on offense, he was out there at right tackle… for one play. Williams then subbed out and Trevor Goosby took over to close out the half.

If there is a silver lining in the Williams injury, it’s that Texas certainly has confidence in what Goosby is able to do. When Kelvin Banks went down against Texas A&M and then could not play in the SEC Championship Game against Georgia, Goosby was the one to take over at left tackle.

“I really thought we controlled the line of scrimmage tonight,” Sarkisian said following the Texas A&M game. “I was really proud of Trevor Goosby when Kelvin went down. Stepped in for his first real action and I thought performed well in not an easy environment to do that.”
