4-star DL D'antre Robinson commits to Texas: 'This will be one of the best decisions I make in my life'
Long before he had ever visited Austin, Orlando (Fla.) Jones four-star defensive lineman D’antre Robinson held Texas in high regard. Then he took an unofficial trip in January and that really opened his eyes.
Robinson as back in Austin in June for his official visit. That second visit back to campus was all he needed to know where his future home would be.
On Thursday, Robinson announced his pledge to the Longhorns choosing them over Alabama, Florida and Ohio State.
“Ever since that visit, Texas has made me feel like a priority and they never let up,” Robinson told On3. “Even before that visit, I was high on Texas, but after being there, it made my interest that much higher. About a month ago, not long after my official visit to Texas is when I knew. On that visit I was feeling at home.
…From the coaches to the players, and even the parents, everyone has that bond and connects with each other at Texas and it’s one big family. I did go back and forth a lot and it was really tough becauseI liked a lot of different schools, but I just felt the most at home at Texas.”
Robinson sees Texas on the rise under Steve Sarkisian
For Robinson his final decision ultimately came down to Florida and Texas. For much of his recruitment the Gators were looked at as the favorite by many including Robinson. He at times envisioned himself in Gainesville as it was close to home and he had built solid relationships with Gators’ coaching staff.

That feeling changed though following his official to Austin in June.
During that visit he said he got a better understanding of what it would be like to play in Austin for Steve Sarkisian. From his talks with Sarkisian, Robinson said that he could tell that he’s a family-oriented guy and that extends to the team and how he treats his players.
Sarkisian also played an active role in trying to recruit Robinson to Texas which is something Robinson said really made an impact on him.
Playing for a coach like Sarkisian, Robinson sees nothing but a bright future where he’s on a team that’s competing yearly for national titles.
“I see Texas on the rise under Coach Sark,” said Robinson, the No. 271 player in the 2024 On300. “In the near future, Texas is going to be a top SEC school. Texas is getting great recruiting classes, the coaches are great and I am definitely excited about my future at Texas. I feel like this will be one of the best decisions I make in my life.”
