Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey impacting DeMarvion Overshown, Texas defense
One veteran is learning from another on the Texas defense. DaMarvion Overshown is entering his fifth year of school, but he’s still learning from older mentors like Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey, a sixth-year senior transfer from James Madison who was an FCS All-American a year ago.
Though Tucker-Dorsey has only been on campus a for a little while, his added experience is also helping Overshown improve. At a recent press conference, the hybrid defensive back/linebacker, raved about his new buddy DTD. He said the smaller linebacker has also shown him a trick or two.
Here was Overshown on their bond so far:
“Tuck, he done taught me a lot since being here. You know, he done played a lot of football. So just seeing him out there, being able to do what he do, for his little self. I call him little every time I see him. But that’s my guy. Like I said, I learned so much from him.
Then Overshown was asked what specifically he’s learned from Tucker-Dorsey, to which he responded:
“Like me, of course, we’re two different sizes. So done taught me some things. Like I saw him do a move yesterday on film — I was like…I ain’t never thought about doing that. But it’s just, some of the stuff he do, you can tell he’s been playing football for a long time.”

Entering year two of the Steve Sarkisian era, Texas needed some veteran leadership. Looks like they’ll have plenty of it in the linebacker room. Where DeMarvion Overshown and Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey share 11 years of college experience and are still making one another better.
Overshown reveals why he believes Texas will win more close games in 2022
DeMarvion Overshown also commented at Big 12 Media Days about Texas’ inability to win close games at the end in year one of the Sarkisian era. And This coming year, they aim to turn that stat around sharply.
How do they plan to do that? Well, let Overshown explain.
“The end of our workouts, all of them—practices—are the hardest part of our workouts. So, really implanting like, ‘Ok, guys. This is the fourth quarter. We got to lock in mentally.’ Like, physically we’re there. It’s just the mental aspect of it, just making sure everybody knows the importance of this quarter. And, that’s basically what we’ve been digging into since spring—since January 1st. We’re not gonna let that be the reason why we lose this year.”
Ready to work harder and fight fatigue better this season, according the veteran defender.
