Dillon Mitchell slams home monster dunk against Baylor

Texas forward Dillon Mitchell is a human-highlight dunk machine.

In the second half of Monday’s game against Baylor, Mitchell collected an offensive rebound with one hand and slammed it home with a ferocious many players could only imagine getting on a breakaway opportunity.

Texas led the game at the half, 38-36, over the Bears. The Longhorns entered the game ranked 10th in the country, one spot ahead of their Texas’ foes.

Mitchell is one of the top freshman in the country. He was the No. 4 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

ESPN’s 2023 NBA Mock Draft from last month had Mitchell going as the No. 16 overall pick in the country.

Dillon Mitchell’s dunk highlights Texas win over Baylor

Texas defeated Baylor, 76-71, on Monday in Austin.

Outside of Dillon Mitchell’s dunk, the freshman finished with only one other made basket but he did grab seven rebounds.

Senior forward Timmy Allen led the way with 18 points on 7 of 10 shooting, six rebounds and four assists.

“I think coach Terry kind of stressed defense on us from the last game against Tennessee,” guard Sir’Jabari Rice said after the game. “All five came out in the game and started to play defense. We just kind of fed off it on the bench. We all just was able to play defense and we were really locked in on defense and that helped out the offense.”

Rice also said after the game that the Big 12 is the best league in the country.

“It’s a great league,” Rice said. “It’s probably the best league in the country if you ask me. Very physical. I’m very blessed to be out here and be able to play against these athletes every day.”
