Texas’ basketball program is coming off their best campaign in a decade and a half. Now, senior forward Dylan Disu says the Longhorns are starving for more next season.

Disu looked forward to the ’23-’24 season in a clip released by Texas earlier today. In its short duration, the Austin native said that the Longhorns are proud of what they accomplished last year but that the ones who remain on The 40 Acres from that team aren’t satisfied with that being the end.

“I love it here. And I love RT,” Disu said. “I think we had a great year last year but I want to do more. The guys here want to do more.”

“We’re just happy to have the opportunity to continue to build on Texas basketball and continue to raise the level and the standard,” said Disu. “It’s just an incredible opportunity and I’m looking forward to that the most.”

Texas posted their best season since 2008 in 2022, even amidst the firing of Chris Beard and Rodney Terry taking over as head coach. They won their most games since that season with 29 and made it to the Elite Eight for the first time since ’08 when Rick Barnes last took them there. They also won the Big 12 Tournament to boot as part of their run as a Top-12 team for the duration of the season.

Disu was a big key to that success in his second season with the team after transferring in from Vanderbilt. As a starter for 36 games, he doubled his points from the season before to 8.8 per game. He also posted 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks while also shooting a career-high 61.3% from the field.

It will take a lot of work for Texas to top what they were able to accomplish last year, especially in the postseason. Even so, Disu says he and his teammates have every intention of doing so over the course of next season and by the time that they get to March.
