Five-Star Plus+ EDGE Colin Simmons signs with Texas

Duncanville (Texas) Five-Star Plus+ EDGE Colin Simmons has signed with Texas.

The 6-foot-2.5, 225-pound Simmons is the No. 11 overall prospect and No. 2 EDGE in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He committed to the Longhorns on Aug. 10, choosing the in-state program over LSU and Miami.

“When it came down to it, I just had to think about family and what’s best for my family,” Simmons told On3. “What’s the best position my family can be put in, and Texas is the best that is.”

Simmons also noted his relationship with UT defensive coordinator coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski.

“Coach PK, man, he’s a play-caller,” Simmons said. “He knows how to run them plays up. Especially at that ‘Bama game when Texas was stopping Alabama in the fourth quarter. I like PK.”
