Dillon Mitchell was one of the most highly sought-after prospects in the 2022 recruiting class. According to the On3 Consensus Rankings, he was rated as the No. 2 overall player in America. The Florida native was the highest rated player in Texas’ highly acclaimed 2022 recruiting class and the freakishly athletic small forward showed everyone why recently.

Mitchell put on a show just a few months ago at the 2022 McDonald’s All-American game. He stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, four rebounds, and two assists. The highly coveted small forward finally arrived on campus for the Longhorns on Saturday and Texas basketball released a short video clip on Twitter with him saying a few words.

Check it out below.

Mitchell, a Spring Hill, Fla. native, figures to be a lottery pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The high flyer is one of the best dunkers in his class and simply glides to the hoop when he takes off from the floor. According to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, he had a fantastic senior year at prestigious Montverde Academy, grew to 6-foot-9 inches, and blew NBA executives away in the high school all-star games, particularly in practices.

In October 2021, Mitchell spoke with On3’s Joe Tipton about why he decided to choose the Texas Longhorns. He picked them over Florida State and Tennessee. The five-star small forward boasted offers from a countless number of schools across the country.

The ‘Horns reeled in the nation’s No. 3 ranked recruiting class for the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. Also joining Mitchell in Austin is Arterio Morris — yet another participant in the 2022 McDonald’s All-American Game. Like Mitchell, Morris shined in the big game — stuffing the stat sheet with 12 points, three assists, and one steal.

According to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2022 class, Morris was rated as the No. 1 point guard in America and the No. 21 overall prospect in the country.

One thing is for certain, Longhorns fans can’t wait for college basketball season and after taking a look at Mitchell and Morris, who can blame them.
