Four-star ATH Aaron Butler commits to the Texas Longhorns
Steve Sarkisian said Texas wasn’t done at his Wednesday signing day press conference. And he was correct.
Four-star versatile athlete Aaron Butler committed to Texas over Washington and Arizona Friday in what is another big national victory for the Longhorns.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian extended an offer to the No. 179 ranked prospect in the country Thursday morning, and that instantly gave the Longhorns a legit shot. The offer came on the heels of wide receivers coach Chris Jackson making an in-home/school visit earlier in December.
There was increased optimism in Austin Thursday night, and that carried over to Friday prior to the announcement.
The pledge by the Southern California playmaker adds another early enrollee to the 2024 class. Texas now has 18 early enrollees set to begin classes in Austin January 17.

Butler made two commitments throughout the process previous to signing with Texas. The 6-foot, 170-pound wide receiver and defensive back first committed to USC in January of 2022. He de-committed from USC January 11 of 2023. Butler would next make official visits to Georgia and Colorado in April. He made a commitment to Deion Sanders and the Buffs May 16 before making June official visits to Alabama and Washington. Butler next de-committed from Colorado December 9, and followed with an official visit to Arizona December 15.
Butler turned into one of the best two-way players in California as a junior. He posted 830 yards receiving with 15 touchdowns, along with 15 tackles and an interception in 2022. He posted 28 receptions for 586 yards and six scores in four games as a senior prior to minor injury.
The Longhorns plan to play Butler at wide receiver to begin his career.
