Four-Star DL Alex January commits to Texas
Four-star defensive lineman Alex January of Duncanville (TX) High announced his commitment to Texas Saturday afternoon.
The 6-foot-5, 322 pounder chose the Longhorns over LSU and others.
The Lone Star State defensive lineman joins coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns’ top 25 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star running back Jerrick Gibson, four-star wide receiver Freddie Dubose Jr., and others.
January ranks as the No. 411 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 37 defensive lineman and the No. 68 player in the state of Texas.
On3 ranks him higher than the industry, as he ranks as the No. 217 player nationally, the No. 21 defensive lineman, and the No. 44 player in Texas.

January was primarily recruited by Bo Davis, and his secondary recruiter was Jeff Banks. He visited the Longhorns a total of four times, including taking an official visit on June 23rd.
He currently does not have an On3 NIL Valuation publicly listed. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
