Four-Star EDGE Colton Vasek flips from Oklahoma to Texas
Four-star EDGE Colton Vasek of Austin (TX) Westlake High announced his commitment to Texas Tuesday afternoon.
The 6-foot-6, 230 pounder flipped his commitment from Oklahoma. He had been committed to the Sooners since August.
Vasek on why he chose Texas
“Texas has always stood out to me,” Vasek said. “I really love what Texas has got going on right now and I think they’re getting things turned around. I 100% believe in Coach PK and Coach Davis to develop me into the best player I can be.”
What it means to continue legacy and stay home
“I’ve grown up a UT fan my entire life,” Vasek said. “When I went to see the OU vs Texas game as an OU recruit, it just really didn’t feel right to me at all. Deep down I wanted to be playing for the team wearing burnt orange. After that game, I really just started thinking about all of the opportunities and things I would have outside of football with being from Austin already, because at the end of the day I want to build my legacy in the state of Texas, and live in Texas when I’m older. Getting to stay close with my family was also huge for me. I know that I’ll always be able to get to them whenever I need to.”

Relationship with coaching staff + their plan for Colton Vasek
“I have a great relationship with the entire staff,” Vasek said. “They see me playing that edge position (Jack and Buck). I’m also a big fan of the 4 down front they’ve been using a lot this year. It’s very similar to the kind of defense we run now.”
Vasek ranks as the No. 137 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 21 EDGE and the No. 26 player in the state of Texas.
