Four-Star EDGE Zina Umeozulu commits to Texas
Four-star EDGE Zina Umeozulu of Allen (TX) High announced his commitment to Texas Wednesday night.
The 6-foot-5, 230 pounder chose the Longhorns over Oklahoma, Oregon, and Texas A&M.
“I feel like Texas has been a front runner for me for a while and I believe in what coach Sark is building. I also feel like Austin is a good place to be outside of football, especially because of how much it is growing. Also the academics and the prestige of the University”
His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.
“I have a great relationship with coach Sark, coach K, and coach Choate. They plan on using me as their edge position which is what they call a buck and I will be rushing.”
The Lone Star State EDGE joins coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns’ top 20 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by five-star EDGE Colin Simmons, four-star running back Jerrick Gibson, and others.

Personal Life (via On3)
“Zina Umeozulu emerged onto the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex football scene with authority in the 2021 season when he was named Texas District 5-6A Defensive Newcomer of the Year at powerhouse program Allen High School. Umeozulu had 46 tackles, four tackles for a loss, six sacks and eight hurries that season. Umeozulu caused more damage as a junior, even if his sack totals were down some. Allen coaches said opponents would double-team Umeozulu, which opened up opportunities for his teammates to make plays. He still managed to record 43 tackles, 11 hurries, three fumble recoveries and three sacks in 2022. His older brother, Neto, is an offensive lineman at Texas. Away from football, Umeozulu enjoys playing video games and listening to NBA YoungBoy. His favorite restaurant is Chick-Fil-A. He plans on majoring in business in college. His parents are Okeoma and Tobe Umeozulu.”
