Four-star safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell of Fort Worth (TX) IMG Academy announced his commitment to Texas Saturday afternoon.

The 5-foot-11, 185 pounder chose the Longhorns over Ohio State, TCU, and Michigan.

Johnson-Rubell on why he chose Texas

“I want to be a part of the new Texas team going into the SEC! Also I know a lot of guys on the team and I’m a firm believer that if it is good chemistry it helps with communication on the field. Coach Gideon and Coach Sark are easy to talk to and they really gave me a good vision on how they are going to use me on the field as a very versatile guy in they’re 4-2-5 defense. And with all the Texas guys staying in The state of Texas I feel like we can win a National Championship.

What it means to come back home

“I left to go to IMG when I was 15, so this is a big deal for me and the family to see me play in Texas again.”

The Sunshine State defensive back joins coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns’ top 25 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star wide receiver Freddie Dubose Jr., four-star running back Christian Clark, and others.
