Four-star wide receiver Aeryn Hampton of Daingerfield (TX) High announced his commitment to Texas Friday night.

The 5-foot-11, 185 pounder chose the Longhorns over Alabama.

Hampton on why he chose Texas

“Just my relationship with the coaching staff and the plan that they have for me,” Hampton said. “It feels like it is the best decision.”

His relationship with the coaching staff played a key role in his decision to ultimately commit to the Longhorns. They plan on using him in all three phases.

“I was really close with coach Gideon,” Hampton said. “We just had a very close relationship. It was kind of like a son and father. He talks to me like I’m one of his own. Also, they plan on using me everywhere– offense, defense, and special teams.

The Lone Star State wide receiver joins coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns’ top 15 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star cornerback Santana Wilson, four-star running back Jerrick Gibson, and others.

Hampton ranks as the No. 138 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 25 wide receiver and the No. 26 player in the state of Texas.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $111K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
