Four-star wide receiver Freddie Dubose of Schertz (TX) Smithson Valley High announced his commitment to Texas Sunday evening.

The 6-foot-1, 190 pounder chose the Longhorns over UTSA, Texas A&M, and others.

Dubose on why he chose Texas

“Alright so first and foremost man that coaching staff is something different,” Dubose said. “They’re real about what they say. Being able to play under Chris Jackson, with all the experience he has had before, it puts me in a good position. I know that he can help me even more trying to achieve my goal of going to the league and developing me to be the best I can be on and off the field.  As a man and player.  As they say it’s a 40 year decision not a 4 year decision. I feel like Texas is everywhere and when football comes to an end I know the Texas family will take care of me for the rest of my life.

Relationship with coaching staff

“My relationship with the coaching staff has never changed ever since I stepped foot into this place my sophomore year. I always felt the love and the feel of being wanted by the coaches. My relationship with coach Jackson is amazing. We haven’t known eachother forever but it just feels like he’s a great guy and a phenomenal coach he’s real etc… and for coach Sark he’s a great head coach.

Dubose ranks as the No. 183 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 28 wide receiver and the No. 34 player in the state of Texas.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $80K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
