Arch Manning has benefited greatly from enrolling early at Texas
Texas has an impressive freshman class on campus for spring practice but no name stands out more than Arch Manning. The former On3 Industry Five-Star Plus+ quarterback is already making headlines in Austin and competing at a high level. While the pads have already come on, Manning first had to go through winter workouts.
Strength and conditioning coach Torre Becton was running the show, helping the Texas freshman catch up to the upperclassmen. Manning described the process, talking about the degree of difficulty while also praising the effectiveness of the workouts. Nothing but praise from Manning on Becton’s program.
“Graduating early, it’s definitely been a great head start for me,” Manning said. “Coach Becton and his staff have been very helpful. I’ve gotten bigger, faster, and stronger. He’s going to push you, and he wants what’s best for you. He asks you the first day you’re here, what do you want to do and what are your goals? He’s going to help you get there. That’s his job. He’s the best.”
Manning has only been on campus for a couple of months but the Texas strength and conditioning program is already working wonders. He claims to be in the best shape of his life, setting up nicely for what’s to come throughout his career in Austin.

“I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life right now,” Manning said. “My body’s feeling good.”
While Quinn Ewers has the starting quarterback job on lockdown, Manning will still have competition this offseason. He and Maalik Murphy will battle for the backup role. If Ewers has to once again miss time this season, there will be playing time at stake.
Getting into college shape is a great start for the young signal caller.
Arch Manning played high school football at New Orleans (LA) Isidore, where he was a Five-Star Plus+ prospect. He was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 industry rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Manning committed to Texas in June of 2022 over Georgia and Alabama. The recruitment was one of the most watched in recent memory being the scion of one of America’s top sporting families. Manning is the son of Cooper Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli, and the grandson of Archie. Peyton, Eli and Archie were all-SEC stars who reached the NFL. Eli won two Super Bowl MVPs, while Peyton landed in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
