Full affidavit released from Chris Beard strangulation charge
Texas Men’s Basketball head coach Chris Beard was arrested early Monday morning, being cited with “Assault on a family/household member.” He was released from jail later in the afternoon, just hours before the Longhorns’ scheduled game against Rice.
An official arrest report for Beard has been released, detailing the incidents of what occurred on Monday, per the victim’s account. Anwar Richardson of Rivals’ OrangeBloods tweeted the report out, removing the name of the victim involved.
Beard was charged with a third-degree felony after the incident occurred with his fiancé. You can read the affidavit below.

Texas has since suspended Beard indefinitely and he will not be on the sidelines for Monday’s game against Rice. Assistant Rodney Terry will serve as the interim head coach.
“The University takes matters of interpersonal violence involving members of its community seriously,” a statement released by Texas read. “Given the information available, The University has suspended Chris Beard from his position as head coach and will withhold his pay until further notice.”

More details emerge on arrest of Chris Beard
More details have now come to light regarding the arrest of Texas head basketball coach Chris Beard. A police report states that the Austin Police Department received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 12:15 a.m. on Monday. The caller reported a disturbance was no longer ongoing and one individual involved in the disturbance had left the house. When police arrived, a woman stated she had been assaulted and strangled by Beard. The woman has not yet been identified by the police.
CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander says that Beard has seen a magistrate judge in Austin municipal court, with bail set at $10,000, according to official court records. He is yet to be released from custody, per Norlander.
