Fran Fraschilla sends big message on Texas basketball, home crowd following win over Texas Tech
Nobody covers Big 12 basketball quite like Fran Fraschilla, getting to be a color commentator on most of the league’s big-time games. He was in Austin, TX on Saturday night, calling one of college basketball’s more underrated recent rivalries for ESPN. Of course, the bout took place at the Longhorns’ new arena, the Moody Center.
Although Texas Tech does not have a win in conference play, Texas earned an important win. Being a hard-fought one for acting head coach Rodney Terry, he continues to stack victories up since the program decided to move on from Chris Beard.
Terry is getting support from the Texas fans as well, showing up to the Moody Center and providing a top-level atmosphere. That’s something Fraschilla has noticed, praising the home crowd for showing out on Saturday.
Fraschilla posted a video of a postgame moment, with everyone inside signing the ‘Eyes of Texas’ to celebrate the win.
“@TexasMBB officially has a basketball arena in @MoodyCenterATX,” Fraschilla said. “Great home court advantage tonight.”
A similar type of crowd came out to support Texas on Wednesday as well, getting a come-from-behind win against TCU.

Michigan prepared to offer No. 1 recruit $10.5M over 4 years
Texas opened the Moody Center recently and this is the first season playing inside. The Erwin Center was considered the long-time home of the Longhorns but now, the feel of a real basketball arena has brought life into the program.
Two losses are currently on the record and one of those came at home. Of the now 15 wins, 11 are at the Moody Center. Kansas State is the only team to leave Austin with a win, doing so in historic fashion with a dominant offensive performance.
There will be plenty of opportunities to put up more incredible environments as well. Kansas will come to town to close out the regular season and if the game was played today, it would be a top-10 matchup. Baylor and Oklahoma will bring fans out as well.
Fraschilla will have multiple more opportunities to call Texas games this season at the Moody Center. From what he’s seen so far, things have changed in Austin and home-crowd advantage will be a real thing.
