WATCH: Texas releases hype video ahead of Red River Showdown
This weekend in college football, there will be rivalry games played across the country, but none bigger than the one happening in the Lone Star State. On Saturday, the Texas Longhorns will take on the Oklahoma Sooners in one of the greatest rivalry games in college football, the Red River showdown.
A matchup of this magnitude comes with its own level of hypeness, and the Longhorns are more than ready to take the field. Ahead of the matchup, Texas dropped the hype video below to get their fans across the country ready too.
Texas enters into this Saturday’s matchup with a 3-2 record and revenge at the front of their minds. The Red River showdown is a matchup the Longhorns consistently have circled on their calendar, but given the meltdown of last season, fans and players have been waiting 363 days, nearly an entire calendar year, for this game.
The Longhorns opened the game on fire, jumping on top of the No. 6 ranked Sooners taking an 18-point 38-20 lead into halftime. The second half would be a whole different story as Texas was outscored 35-10, including giving up 25 points in the fourth to lose 55-48. On Saturday, the Longhorns will look to right that wrong behind the powerful running game of star running back Bijan Robinson and the team’s high-powered offense.

JD PicKell predicts the Red River Rivalry
“When it comes down to our prediction for this game, it’s unfortunate, but I think Oklahoma is just in a really rough spot right now. No Dillon Gabriel likely is a very big deal. You got guys like Jovantae Barnes, Eric Gray, they’ve toted the rock well for you.
“But at the end of the day, if Quinn Ewers is back in this game, and we fully believe that he will be, Texas should be able to score in bunches. If Texas scores in bunches, that puts pressure on Oklahoma to respond with their offense. No knock on Jeff Lebby and no knock on what they have there under the cover at quarterback, but I don’t think it’s enough to score with Texas.
“So at the end of the day, we think that there is a little bit of fight early from this Oklahoma team. But at the end of the day, Oklahoma doesn’t have the firepower to match Texas. Texas wins this game 31-17.”
